But according to transfermarkt.com, his contract with Belgrade will expire on December 31, 2020.
The 27-year old joined the Serbian giants in the 2017/18 season and has done well for himself.
Injuries mean he hasn’t seen a lot of game-time in the current season, but made eight appearances, scored two goals, registering three assists.
The former Juventus forward says it’s not easy leaving, but is happy to have made history with the club.
“It is not easy to leave this team, because the love before it is very great,” he said in an interview, as quoted by ghanasoccernet.com.
“It’s like being at home here, and leaving the club with which you started creating something that will stay forever, surely hits right in the heart.
“But football and my life have to move on. It was not easy, but with God’s help, I managed to collect so many games and score many goals.
“Without my teammates, I would not have succeeded and I am very happy to have become a part of the history of this club.
“First half, to be precise. Because I enjoyed, played as I wanted and moved as I wanted, but unfortunately, I got injured in the second half.”
Boakye-Yiadom has won three Serbian league titles with Red Star in two stints with the club.
