Former Manchester United and England striker, Michael Owen, has predicted some of the Premier League fixtures that will be played on Wednesday.

The busy festive schedule has kicked in and some top teams will be in action across the country.

Arsenal welcome Southampton seeking to climb up from 15th place, while Liverpool host Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield.

Owen expects the Gunners to drop points again at the Emirates and the Reds to see off Jose Mourinho’s side.

The two sides are level on points at the top of the table, with Spurs sitting in first place with a better goal difference.

Speaking to BetVictor on Liverpool vs Spurs, Owen said: “This is Spurs’ acid test. Undefeated in their last 11 games, Jose Mourinho’s side will come into this hopeful they can get a result.

“I’m expecting them to sit in and go through a bit of pain with the intention to hit on the counter-attack.

“Although I think that could work to a certain extent, I reckon Liverpool simply have too much quality going forward.”

On Arsenal vs Southampton, he added: “If Arsenal were to suffer another defeat here, Mikel Arteta will be under serious pressure.

“Arsenal simply must avoid defeat. Although I am a big fan of Southampton, I think they may have to settle for a point in this one.”
