Popular Yoruba actor, Kola Oyewa, was born on March 27th, 1946 in Oba Ile in Osun State. He is a dramatist and a scholar.

Kola Oyewo started his education at St. Joseph Catholic Primary School where he read up to Primary 5. He then moved to Osogbo, and attended St. Benedict Catholic Primary School to complete his primary and JHS education. Oyewo proceeded to St. James Secondary Modern School at Ife for his secondary education.

Oyewo strived higher to the Obafemi Awolowo University where he obtained a certificate in Dramatic Arts, a certificate in Yoruba Oral Literature, before obtaining a degree in Theatre Arts from the same university in 1995. In pursuance of high academic excellence, Oyewo continued to the University of Ibadan where he also bagged a Master of Arts (M.A) and a Doctorate Degree (Ph.D.) in Drama respectively.

In 1996, Oyewo joined the services at Obafemi Awolowo University, where he rose to the rank of senior lecturer before retiring in 2011. Upon retirement, the scholar joined Redeemer’s University where he served as head of the Department of Dramatic Arts. He is currently working at Elizade University Ilara-Mokin, Ondo State as a Performing Arts lecturer.
