Police shot an armed suspect in Brooklyn on Monday evening, law-enforcement sources said.

Cops were responding to a report of a man with a gun in Prospect Lefferts Gardens around 6 p.m. when they arrived at the scene and found a guy brandishing a firearm, sources said.

Officers fired two shots and hit the unidentified suspect in the leg, sources said.

He is not believed to have suffered life-threatening injuries and is being treated at Kings County Hospital.

Sources said at least some officers were also taken to the hospital because they had ringing in their ears.

Cops recovered a gun at the scene, sources said.

The incident took place at Bedford Avenue and Lenox Road near Prospect Park, sources said.

“I heard gunshots from inside my house,” a 71-year-old neighbor who would only give her name as Merile, told The Post. “That’s terrible.”

Joseph Sinbad was passing through the neighborhood when the shots.

“I’m scared,” said Sinbad, 57. “I have to try to get out of that area. I don’t want to stay in the area. There’s too much stuff. I’m not accustomed to that.”

Local resident Chinelo DeBrady, 26, called the shooting “unfortunate.”

“It’s kind of just the reality of living in a low-SES (socio-economic status) community,” he said. “It happens. It’s unfortunate.”
