Continuous dialogue, understanding, unity and acceptability among various ethnic groups in Atyap Chiefdom will usher in desirable peaceful co-existence in Atyap.

This is according to the National President, Atyap Community Development Association, ACDA, Zangon Kataf local government area of Kaduna State, Comrade Dr. Silas Adamu.

Adamu said the leadership of the Atyap community would entrench values that would ensure sustainable peace, mutual trust and rapid socio-economic growth of the Atyap land and the state in general.

Speaking to DAILY POST Adamu said, “We are presently faced with a lot of dilemma in Atyapland of uniting ourselves and fostering peaceful coexistence with our neighbours, with our associates so that we can bring unity, peace, progress and development to our land.”

“The place in recent months has become a theatre of crisis and you need leaders of foresight, leaders who are ready to think outside the box in order to bring about peace. We need to stay in peace with our people irrespective of tribe or religion, we cannot do this until the leaders have foresight who will channel all energies towards achieving peaceful coexistence.”

He applauded the efforts of the Agwatyap, Sir Dominic Gambo Yahaya, who flooded a peace summit in the heights of the crisis, adding, “I am sure this effort has brought about what we are enjoying today.”

Dr. Silas Adamu noted that although there are still crises in some places in the chiefdom, the community would reach its desired plan of ensuring permanent peace in the area.

“As leaders of the community, we are thinking along the same line with the paramount leader, the Agwatyap and we are going to channel our energies towards peaceful co-existence. We need to diplomatically set on the path of honour and glory and that can only be achieved by negotiating the future of our land.”

He called on ethnic groups in Atyap land to live in peace with one another, saying, “We will reach out to all tribes in Atyapland, we need to bring all our grievances to a round table for discussion and better understanding and accepting one another to live in peace and harmony by negotiating not through war.”
