Nigerian musician, Burna Boy’s album has been nominated for Grammy’s Award 2021, the second time in a row.
Burna Boy’s ‘Twice As Tall’ has been nominated for worldwide album of the year category, where is to battle it out with the likes of Antibalas, Bebel Gilberto, Anousha Shankar, and Tinariwen to win the bragging rights.
Earlier this year, the musician’s album, African Giant, lost the award to Angelique Kidjo’s reimagination of Celia Cruz music. Some of those defeats inspired him to work on his ‘Twice As Tall’.
A few weeks ago, the recording academy rebranded the category formerly known as ‘Best World Music Album’ to ‘Best Global Music Album’. Kidjo defeated Burna Boy in this category when it was referred to as ‘Best World Music Album’
If Burna Boy wins, he will emerge Nigeria’s first Grammy winner since Sikiru Adepoju won this award with Planet Drum, over 10 years ago.
