Ex-Asante Kotoko captain, Amos Frimpong, has called on fans of the club to support and motivate players despite their poor showing against Al-Hilal Omdurman.
The Porcupine Warriors suffered a 1-0 defeat to the Sudanese giants at the Accra Sports Stadium on Wednesday in the first leg of round one of the CAF Champions League.
Kotoko showed a lackluster performance and were poor in the game leading to agitations from the fans after the game.
Frimpong accepts the team’s performance was poor on the day but needs psyching to stand a chance in the return fixture next year.
“The performance of the players was down compared to that of the Dreams FC game”, he told Happy FM.
“It wasn’t a bad performance though. After winning against Dreams we were thinking the players will head into the game with that motivation.
“There is still more room for improvement, we should throw our support behind the team ahead of the second leg.
“We should all contribute to help the team find a way to qualify. The management should find a way to motivate the players and not kill their motivation.
Asante Kotoko will travel to Omdurman for the second leg on January 5, 2021.
